Hello! I’m Dr Clayton Thompson

I am a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with a doctorate in Counselling Psychology, completed in 2000. My NHS career began in 2001 in secondary care, where I worked with individuals experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems, including personality disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders. During this time, I developed expertise in treating eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and obesity.

I have experience working with young people (ages 16–17) in both the private sector and the NHS, providing sensitive psychological assessment and treatment for depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and academic challenges. My support extends to both students and their parents.

Currently, I manage a counselling team within an NHS IAPT service.

Spiritual Life

I am a Christian whose spiritual journey began between 1997 and 2000 during my doctoral training, where my thesis focused on working therapeutically with individuals holding religious and spiritual beliefs. In 2001, I joined Kensington Temple in Notting Hill Gate and undertook leadership training. Led by the Spirit, I joined Life Changing Global Ministry (LCGM) in 2006, a church with multiple branches in the USA. I was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 2014 and became the resident pastor of the UK branch in 2018. I also serve as a teacher at LCGM’s School of Ministry. I am married, have five children, and live in Kent
